wow, those have to be some of the worst descriptions of ska ever
fill you in- ska was around before reggae, which also means it was before punk. there have been 3 main " waves"
first wave was very horn orientated- skatalites etc, most songs didnt have vocals and was mainly about the music, very danceable

second wave was a lot more rhythym oriented- main group would have to be the specials

third wave is when ska and punk really became mixed, bands such as reel big fish, mighty mighty bosstones, early no doubt etc.
there have also been other types, skacore such as operation ivy (ten million times better than rancid), and a a myriad of others

well, looks like youve succesfully identified what ska IS...

i'll just add that its none other than the offbeatest funkiest danciest and most upbeat style of music, one could hope to experience

4manbob are a brilliant example, they rock live, as do the managers!! nz most primo ska band by a league or 2.... can any1 tell me more bout less than jake?

hey, if ya really into ska... im starting up a radio show specially for rude boys and gurls what cant get enuff of it! email me...
