Back in the late sixties when I was a lad with all the prejudices of youth, I always found it slightly annoying that a country group with a daggy name were clogging up the airwaves that should have been given over to New Zealand's unique psychedelic and progressive pop and rock bands....looking back with the benefit of age and experience, and listening again to their music, I'm staggered at what great musicians the HCBB were and how good their records were - 'Barefoot Nellie', 'Fox On The Run', 'Carolina In My Mind' - anybody else repenting the folly of a narrow-minded youth? Man, those guys (and girl!) could play!
