DJ's marathon stint sets world record Posted: Tue Jan 17, 2017 8:33 pm Bouts of hallucination after only 10 hours of sleep in almost eight days did not stop a DJ's record-setting stint that raised money for the Christchurch earthquake appeal. Scott "Snap" Campbell, 21, set a Guinness world record for the longest radio DJ marathon, beating the previous record of 183 hours by two hours. He raised more than $7500. The former Burnside High School pupil, who now lives in Wellington, finished his record stint on Friday afternoon after "completely losing it". "It was the most intense thing I have ever done in my life – I really wasn't with it for most of it. I hardly have any memories from the week and those I do have are all set in random places when I know that the whole thing was done in a radio studio." Campbell survived on 20-minute power naps a few times a day. "I would fall into deep sleep so quickly and when someone woke me up to take me back to the studio, they would have to tell me what I was doing and what song I had to introduce next – I had no idea what was going on." Campbell said he had hoped to raise more than he did after initial support on social networking site Facebook saw more than 20,000 people join the cause.
