I'm not sure if this was quite my first, but Silverchair's 'Tomorrow' was one I learnt early on. And 'Father and Son' by Cat Stevens, of course Happy

"Polly" by Nirvana is really easy. Nirvana songs have simple chord changes and even the solos aren't that hard to learn.

True but most people play it with powerchords, everyone should have to learn the real version with inverted diads.

I learnt lots of classical stuff first but would have to say first songs were probably Wrathchild by Iron Maiden or Living After Midnight by Judas Priest.

On Piano Bohemian Rhapsody was the first thingI learnt, by watching what Freddie's hands were doing on the video.

Mandolin 'Thats the way' by Led Zeppelin.

you mean the doublestops on the d+g strings? its like

g |-0-3-5--0-3-6-5--0-3-5--3-0
d |-0-3-5--0-3-6-5--0-3-5--3-0

I cant remember I need my guitar but thats what I think it is!! (thats how he said he played it in an interveiw with total guitar) I get so annoyed with all the kids playing powerchords, and they never know open chords!! it was one of the first things I learnt!!(along with shuffle ryhyms)if your learning guitar learn the CAGED chord system then start learning the open chords for 7ths etc etc
