Fat,Ugly,Talented vs Thin,Attractive+Average.

Who is more likely to succeed in the main stream music scene today, someone unattractive with great musical talent or someone attractive with minimal musical talent?

You're right it shouldn't matter, but it does and it makes you think about what music has become today and it's sad.

people usually say the music matters more, but what do popular society care about?

heaps of underground bands dont look too pretty, thats why theyre "underground", and thats why music made by britney spears and most half naked hip hop chicks sell millions

thin, attractive and the average type will always have the edge over those who are fat ugly and very talented.i dont agree with how society works.i think its shit.i would however say that it really depends on the consumers.People are going to be attracted to pop music and the likes because there are half naked chix dancing around shakin there asses in our face.whats has that got to do with anything i ask myself?shit all really.personally i cant stop laughing when i see all these hip hop artists standing next to cars while girls who are practically naked dance around.its not right.how can these clones make so much money compared to that of original artists????the fat ugly talented artists gets shunted.if you are all about the music then you suppost the band no matter what.geeez some of my fave bands are hideous but that doesnt make a difference to me.because its not there image im listenin too its their music.i think its really just a personal thing.i think that people need to branch out a bit more. i mean seriously who could like britney spears or someone like that for their music......your killing me.some of the best bands in the world are absooolootely gorgeously fowl.people have to get used to it.its the music.not the body.

I have been far from pop culture for a long time. I dont listen to radio or anything, all I know is my enormours and constantly increasing underground metal and classical music collection.

No onw cares about looks in the metal scene. It is all about the music, and thats how it should be.

I guess thats one of the music genres left that stays true to the music and talant.

Good question to raise BUT it generally only applies to women in the music industry, so I've noticed over the years.
Men can be short or fat or ugly or disabled or any darn thing that doesn't fit peoples' main definition of "attractive/sexy. Take Meatloaf for instance. And Jack Black, or Elvis Costello are hardly pin-up boys, and the lead singer of the Pogues is plug ugly etc etc.
Females, on the other hand, must generally be slim, sexy and pretty. Doesn't matter they have an average voice ...that can be tinkered with. And having a brain is optional.
