Did anyone see that Metallica: Some kind of Monster documentry?
Posted: Sat Feb 19, 2005 9:42 am
I have some mixed feelings on it. I'm not a Metallica fan to begin with but maaan that movie was NOT flattering on them at ALL. Has anyone else seen the movie yet?

it wasn't meant to be!! Rolling Eyes

My thoughts, some funny & interesting bits, their little fights, bits with Jason & Dave Mustine (he came off as a whiney baby).
I reckon it was quite cool that they showed the other bassist's that tried out, like Scott Reeder from Kyuss, Jordie White (Twiggy), Eric from Janes Addiction, Danny from Nine Inch Nails, Pepper from COC & The Cult bassist

yea i thought it was real funny, and it shows that you dont need to get along with your band members to be the greatest band in the world... Laughing

I know, I know, but what I mean is that they revealed them too much. It highlighted all of their distraut and lame moments and showed them in their rawest form which made them look kind of...lame. They took away the "magic" of one of the most greatest metal bands of all time

The napster thing wasn't cool though so i kind of find it hard to respect them, though they were the first(?) or biggest(?) or best(?) metal band of all time(?), so I cant really hate them.

meh just my opinion

But dont get me wrong though, I thought the Documentry was amazing, I just wanted it to show a different aspect of Metallica than just Metallica's band members having problems and acting like little whinny kids at McDonalds.

the doco was amazing - being a big metallica fan and all it jst took u that litlle bit further into them and their awesome fights. Lars is a right dick head he thinks he owns metallica when james is the real funny man/inspiration of the band.

It made u feel really sorry for dave cause he was treated like abolute crap. and the stupid thing is hes the better out of him and kirk, he wipes his ass at solos, riffs and singing.

Lars' dad was a fuking crack up!!!!

You know what, your absoluty right. I totally forgot that since im not a metallica fan, i cant relate to it or become fascinated in it. If it was a band i really adored then i would of been enthusiastic. i didnt notice this before because a critic wrote "...No matter if your a metallica fan or not, you'll love this doco..." (Something like that, but it was the no matter if your a metallica fan or not that made me judge it the way i did, since im not a fan...)

But for a music doco it was amazing.....but not as amazing as the Kurt and Courtney one

the documentry wasn't that amazing, but what the doco was on and their facts and how they got to their point was amazing

those were hardly facts, most of the people they interviewed were just washed up dope addicts, I would hardly belive on what they say.

One cool thing, if you noticed the Dwarfes clip, the bassist is actually Nick Oliveri ex Qotsa & Kyuss. Except he looks a lot different since he has long hair & no goatee!!

Dave Mustaine is a metal legend! i had the pleasure of seeing Megadeth live in NZ when they were here last, an awesome performance. I read a recent interview with Dave and he was gutted that Metallica had edited that footage to make him look bad, they kinda set him up really, he said they made it look one sided and certainly didn't show Lars walking off crying.
