I'm a newbie here...who is heading to your fine country in late 2019...Help and Support needed!! Posted: Tue Jan 1, 2019 12:50 am Greetings, one and all! I hope you're all doing well? I'm Ben, a rapidly-aging music fan (ha!) from the UK and I'm moving with my lovely fiancee in late 2019 to work/live/embrace life in New Zealand. We decided that a change in lifestyle/location was a good idea before we kick the proverbial bucket...and we're going to start a new life in your lovely country (Most likely Auckland, to start with..but that depends on employment aspects) I guess I just wanted to reach out to people on this forum and get your perspective on the music scene in NZ. I know a few bands already that hail from the country; albeit mostly rock and metal bands...but of course, there's the awesome Salmonella Dub, who I've enjoyed for many years. I'd be delighted to hear about other bands that people recommend, no matter the style/genre. I'm a multi-instrumentalist musician/audio engineer/producer and have released music under various projects over the years, with my main band being a progressive rock/metal band called ENOCHIAN THEORY that I toured Europe with/released records on labels with, for about 13 years before we went on hiatus last year. Here's the band's homepage and some video links: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7gr7F64Opw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xeJ5Q8G4aM&list=PLcO8OcWAcdcFiyoyIXPLrErojl8Lue9EH http://enochiantheory.co.uk/ I also put out electronica music under the project, MASSIVE DYNAMIC, which has won random awards/accolades over the years. Here's a couple of videos I've done under that project name: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-hFaf5ix5zc https://youtu.be/6h4gNatjaHU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pUYUG7GFXXc I am currently finishing a solo prog metal/rock/cinematic record for the Progressive Gears record label in Europe, under the project name of OCEANICA , on which I have played all the instruments and engineered the recordings. http://progressivegears.com/artists/oceanica/ I would dearly love to integrate myself into the local NZ music scene and meet like-mined people who might want to jam, write music together or even better; have a functioning project that may need someone to help out with whatever instrument that needs playing. (I play a large number of instruments to strong level of competency/teach privately in my spare time and would be happy to try out via video, etc.) Anywho...i just wanted to introduce myself and throw myself upon your collective mercy! I have always made good friends within the music circles I have worked in and I truly hope that I can do the same after I move the huge 11'500 miles to New Zealand! As mentioned, happy to share more music links/discuss anything i have said here...and would like to chat to anyone who is open-minded and happy to take me under their proverbial wing! All the very best! Ben |

Cheers, David Hi David, Thanks for replying to me! Sadly, I won't be in NZ till at least the end of 2019...but I would be interested in working with you remotely in the meantime? I do a fair few mixing and mastering projects remotely from my home studio in the UK and would simply need the audio stems from your recording sessions sent to me. If you'd like to discuss more, then happy to! All the best! |
