My Kingdom for a rewind button.
Posted: Thu Jun 22, 2006 5:12 pm
Rolling Eyes As every woman in my life already knows, I'm full of regret...
But hey, someone special has made me see past all that...

Now to the task at hand, Music, can I start now... is it ever too late?
And where the fuck do you begin when you don't have recorder classes to go to when lunch time is over...

Bass and drums and perhaps vocals would be fun!!! Good bands to go see would be cool too.

Right thats me done for now... Shock

I don't think it's ever too late if you commit yourself. I know I'll continue playing guitar again one day. Happy

Damn right, it's never too late.

I thought my days of gigging were over years ago until I bit the bullet and bought a guitar again.

So if I say "bit the bullet" as you say and bought a bass guitar, I'd be gigging in no time!
Do you think the audience will respond to a fractured bassline of 'Mary had a little lamb'

Well ofcourse not... i bet i'd put on a stellar performance.

What kind of band were/are you in? where do you 'jam'?

Where is a good place to start my aspirations? Apart from the awesome MUSIC.NET.NZ, (shameless plug)

Hah, no, you won't be gigging "just like that"... but my point was I dropped music for nearly 5 years... now I'm doing better than any band i've ever been in in the years gone by.

Step 1: Learn an instrument
Step 2: Find a band
Step 3: Practice hard

When you reckon you've got the goods, approach venues or other bands for gigs... record a demo perhaps to get your music out there etc.

Oh, and to answer your question, I'm guitarist/vocalist for ChCh Metal band "Tainted". (I'm an ex-drummer)

Ok sounds good... Except the whole step 1 part. Couldn't I just plug something into my brain and download the basics, or similar.

Sad & Blue
No... well ok i guess i'll hit the basics books. Has anyone got any good places to get tabs and music?

Cool

Do you play often, do you ever play outside of chch,

No too often, we're in writing mode at the moment, got something planned coming up in ChCh that should be wicked (under 18's stay tuned!). Have gigged around the South Island with Sinate and Syndakit, done a bunch of gigs in ChCh and so far only 1 in Auckland.

You should send me a sample of what you guys play.

I've uploaded one of our older demos to this site which you can find if you look us up. Also there's 4 samples on www.myspace.com/taintednz Our album "The Awakening" is available from Sounds and Real Groovy. I hope to update our profile here soon.

YEA!! That's my motto. Except I'm a girl. and I have to call my bf back or he starts crying.

Jokes.....

When you tour with other bands and shit, do you get tempted to use drugs? I would think there'd be alot of drugs going around in that kind of lifestyle...

Sometimes, if you're lucky enough! Laughing

Nah... I like to party - after the bigger gigs I always like to celebrate, but you're constantly wary of the next night, and the trip on the road, and keeping your eyes on your gear etc etc. Sometimes we're roughing it, living on fish & chips - but we like to at least get a kickass breakfast or sniff out a really nice Thai place (did that in Nelson before punishing the Phat club **WIKKID GIG**)... but yeah, sometimes it's beers and craziness for hours on end - sometimes you're just laxing out reading a book... the rest... SITTING IN A CAR OR A VAN OR A PLANE Google

It's been eye opening that's for sure.

And I remain faithful to my girlfriend always.

That depends on what you're after! I'm far from an authority on bass guitars sorry... Naturally, I say go for something nice like an ESP.

We have a rough idea, but not saying quite just yet. We've gotta work it around something we've got planned for ChCh coming up (all ages).
