FOR SALE: Akai Hard Disc Multitrack Recorder Posted: Fri May 5, 2006 11:22 am I've just purchased a 24 track Pro Tools setup so I'm gettng rid of my old recording device. A bit of a rundown: Akai DPS12i. The i denotes that it takes IDE instead of costly SCSI HDD like its predecessor the DPS12. It is a 12 track machine but can only record up to 8 tracks simultaneously via 6 balanced phono inputs and 1 stereo optical spdif input. Comes with effects board add on which has some nice sounding reverbs, delays and compressors. Current drive is an 8gb Seagate, this is small but can handle a lot of projects. Project data can be backed up via external SCSI link. Has one faulty fader that will probably need replacing (contact cleaner might cure it for a month or so), but this can still be controlled via the onscreen menu. The unit has a few scratches and the icons on a few of the tranport buttons (play/stop) are a bit faded. Apart from this, the unit is in full working order. Don't have the manual but it's available for download from here: http://www.akaipro.com/archives.html#doc Spotted another in Auckland Rockshop recently retailing for $699. Having worked in both the wholesale and retail musical equipment industry I can tell you that retailers put a minimum 30% on all stock. Rockshop would probably have purchased that unit for over $500. Mine is newer and fully loaded. My price: $380 or nearest offer. I have already knocked off $100 to pay for the repair of the unit so realistic offers only please.
