Welly Bassist/Guitarist/Vocalist - want in, or to start something

I'm a 35yo bassist/guitarrist/vocalist from California, recently transplanted down here. I want to find a band, or to start one.

I have no illusions of "making it big"... I want a casual band; to jam on the weekends, and then to step it up during periods of gigging... but not constant, every day, or even 3 days a week unless we are consistantly gigging and all lovin' it.

My influences include lots of alternative rock (red hot chili peppers, radiohead, pearl jam, that sort of thing) but I prefer the funk and jazz themes often found in clubbing music... How to mix it up - not sure.

I played for 7 years in an SF band "Janitor's Lounge" and played in several bands before that even back to when I was 16.

Have equip (bass, guitar, hand drum machine, ADAT, comp, mackie mixer and monitors, neumann mics, etc)... but I didn't bring my bass amp down from the states (too bulky) so I'll be picking up a new one at some point.
