Politically motivated players wanted. Tino rangatiratanga
Posted: Mon Sep 12, 2005 9:43 am
I'm just wanting to gauge interest in a idea I have had for some time. Is anyone interested in forming a band with primarily political agenda and lyrics? I'm keen to hook up with a drummer, bassist, maybe another guitarist who might want to collaborate on this project.
I would envisage that our lyrics would be predominantly in the reo and based around some of the issues raised by the media and other one eyed commentators on the state of Maori etc.

I used to play guitar and sang professionally some years back and toured with several bands, so as you can guess I am not a young dude (Thirty eight Cool ) but am keen to get out and express my frustrations politically through music. I am a reo speaker but would not require others to be. My influences are fairly broad but am keen for any group formed to be fairly heavy (i.e. Metallica, Rage against the Machine etc) mostly cause I dig jamming like this now and am a sad old metal fan from way back lol. I have good rig

I have spent some time in a kapa haka and am keen to integrate this into anything we do. I also play some traditional taonga puoro.

Anyway let me know what you guys think e hoa ma.

Dude,

i'm not very politically astute, but i think what you're proposing sounds pretty cool.

... as long as you don't mind jamming with a Samoan guitarist who still has Soundgarden, STPs, Alice In Chains and Van Halen on high rotation in his CD player.

besides, i'm also on the wrong side of 30 to answer any of the other callups in this forum Cool
