RE: AUCKLAND drummer/guitarist Posted: Mon Oct 12, 2009 8:38 pm Hey dude, got some cool tunes there. Where abouts in Auckland are you? I'm 25, live on the shore. Play guitar, sing and can play a tiny bit of drums. Have gear and transport. We share a lot of the same influences. I love ATDI, The Black Keys, Hendrix, Zeppelin etc. I have a little demo here: www.myspace.com/ultraviolentraymusic It's not flash by any means (done at home with cool edit and fruity loops). I have a bunch of riffs to make into songs though. Anyway - Yell out if you like. [email protected] |

RE: AUCKLAND drummer/guitarist Posted: Tue Oct 13, 2009 8:28 pm Cool, yeah keen bro. The lead near the end? Just reverbed it a little, bit of overdrive and a bit of a bend. The verses are just how it sounded after I did the hiss reduction cos of my shitty mic. Had a bit of a crunch to it before that. |

RE: AUCKLAND drummer/guitarist Posted: Wed Oct 14, 2009 3:56 pm yeah in the verses, it almost sounds like another instrument! not much attack. interesting that it was just noise reduction.. i dont know what type of setup you have but you could avoid mic'ing difficulties by plugging directly into your PC and using an amp simulator VST (i use amplitube - so awesome - has all of hendrix's effects). I think you would need a better DAW or at least better software than cool edit to run a VST did you write some lyrics for it? sounds like you had some vocals in mind for the chorus, i can't really sing or play good lead... im no virtuoso but i have a good ear and can pick stuff up quite easiliy do you know of anywhere we could jam? my place isnt really suitable at the mo as i've got extra people staying in my spare room, havent played drums in a while because of it... |

RE: AUCKLAND drummer/guitarist Posted: Wed Oct 14, 2009 5:20 pm Yeah I need to get a new computer actually, this one's not powerful enough to support it all. One day... I've written some lyrics for it. Have for the chorus anyway. Not convinced of the vocal melody for the verses or the lyrics for them so need to change them. I've never had a lesson and do it all by ear too so that's cool. As far as jamming goes, we might have to hire out a practise room. My place isn't suitable either. Seems like we got similar tastes, goals. Just turned 18 last week by the way. I'm currently learning fives by Guthrie Govan, check it out and I'll put a video of it up next week. |
