Bass player wanted, Auckland for covers band Posted: Fri Jun 22, 2012 11:03 pm Hey thanks for taking a look at my ad! Ive put together a small group consisting of myself and 2 guitarists so far but we are still looking for a lead vocalist & bassist. We have a bunch of songs we have been practising and adding more every week but we really need a good solid bass player with a wicked groove to help complete the line up! is this you??!! We are not fussed if you are male or female just as long as you can play stuff from easy laid back stuff like jack johnson to heavier stuff like foo fighters, the killers and even an eminem song we have bastardised for kicks oh and if you can sing too that would be a bonus. A little about me: Im a drummer, and up until recently i was playing in an originals band for the past 2 years... I love playing originals and I love playing covers too and to be honest covers are easy plus you have the ability to earn cash playing regular gigs to fund the originals side of things or just some extra cash in your pocket while enjoying playing music! I have played in many covers and originals bands over the years, one of the covers bands on the cock n bull circuit so Im looking for talented musos with good gear and their own transport and you MUST be reliable. Initially I think the focus will be getting gig ready rather than spending too much time on original songs however I do want to work on original songs too. Im 30 and have been playing for around 18 years, I had been in the same originals band for almost 2 years and it wasnt progressing fast enough so I am now in the process of forming a professional team of talented people but without drama, big egos or attitudes that alot of band members tend to have. I want to be part of a team and I just want to have fun playing good music and I want to play live more often, isnt that what music is supposed to be about?? The music: Im into mainly rock music but it depends on the crowd on the night and yes a few of the classics will have to be put into the set cause lets face it, they get the crowd going which = $$ so it will be a new and old mixture of pop, rock, heavy rock etc etc. I know of at least 150 covers that i can play off the top of my head so you will either need to know that many or put the effort into learning at least 80 to start off with as sets can change through the night. Some of my influences are: Foo Fighters, Shapeshifter, Muse, Rage, John Butler Trio, Sublime, Shihad, chillis (old stuff tho),Supergroove, the black seeds, Fly my pretties to name a few I look forward to hearing from you and seeing what can be created!
