Talent Search for Pasifika Festival 2006 Up and coming performers are invited to audition on Saturday 26 November for next year's Pasifika Festival. The audition - called 'Expressions Pasifika' - is a chance for performers to show the judges why they should be performing at next year's festival. All contestants will be given a scheduled audition time on receipt of a fully completed application form. The Pasifika Festival 2006 will be held at Western Springs Stadium and lakeside on 10 and 11 March 2006. Start: Monday 31st October 2005 Each of the three stages are held Mondays and Thursdays (6.30pm - 8.30pm) over 3 weeks. Stage 1 ($450) for people with little or no theory. Study scales and harmony up to four part chords and write for drums and the bass. Stage 2 ($600) Write for and have played at the next session, music for flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet and trombone. The jazz/rock horns night is a highlight! Stage 3 ($750) French horn, voices and strings. The harmony is advanced at this stage. The group situation enables students to hear their music played and creates valuable dialogue and interaction. The workshops are aimed at helping people towards performing floor spots and short concert sets. They will cover instrument technique, extending your performance range and style and on-stage presentation. There will be a series of nine workshops covering: singing - solo and in harmony whistle fiddle guitar - for beginner performers and the more experienced accompaniment, chords and arrangement using sound equipment. The workshops will be held on Saturday afternoons. Location: Wellington Arts Centre, 67 Abel Smith St, Wellington Dates: 5 to 26 November 2005 and 11 February to 11 March 2006.
