K1W1, Christchurch's latest radio station is about to make a return to the airwaves - this time they are on 106.8fm.

Run by the students on the Radio Announcing course at Aoraki Polytechnic and Canterbury School of Media, K1W1's motto is all kiwi, all the time.

K1W1 is to play the full scope of New Zealand music, including that which has a kiwi connection for example Daniel Bedingfield, or a remake of a kiwi song by an overseas artist for example Six Pence None The Richer's remake of Crowded House's 'Don't Dream It's Over'.

K1W1 interviews national bands/musicians visiting Christchurch from the diverse range of music available and being produced in New Zealand as well as local and emerging talents.

Long term goals for K1W1 are to run a successful station during it's full-time broadcast (18-29 November), increase listnership and to possibly become a full time running radio station in the next year or so.

Their main goal is to show that K1W1 is a capable medium for ALL New Zealand music to be played on and that it is possible to have an all kiwi music radio station.
