Noise Control End Local Output Gig Posted: Sun Nov 24, 2002 3:19 pm On 22 November, Ubiquitous played at the Underground Skate Park in Wairau Park. This event happens every month at this venue, with a different band, and a whole lot of skaters. It's an awesome event put together by Local Output, and is for people of all ages. At 9pm, near the end of Ubiquitous' set, noise control turned up. By 9:15pm it was all over - no encores or anything. Noise Control have ended a Local Output event before, during the 2001 Local Output Bands Competiton half way through Savant's set. Auckland's Queen Street have also had a number of problems with noise control throughout 2002, as the current imposed noise limit is 55-65dB. People start to loose their hearing at 85dB, and this is the noise limit which is imposed on cars. It seems that there are different standards for musical events. Do you think this is fair? You can sign a noise control petition @ http://www.temple.co.nz/noise.htm for the Temple Bar in Auckland. What are your views on noise control at gigs? Shade muzic.net.nz |
