York Street Studios Acid Test Finalists Announced!

The team @ muzic.net.nz would like to congratulate the following bands for becoming the York Street Studios Acid Test finalists for 2002; they are, in no particular order:

- Punga -

The York Street Studios Acid Test is a songwriting and performance competition with a real difference. Not only does it scrutinise the acts based on performance and songwriting skills, but there is also a huge emphasis on industry knowledge, marketing prowess and business skills. The 21 semi-finalists (and congratulations to all of them too) have been required to submit business plans and a panel of judges interview the 6 finalists.

The judging panel for the final will include the following industry experts:

- Jeremy McPike [York Street Studios] -
- David Ridler [NZ On Air] -
- Emma Philpott [NZ Musician Magazine] -
- Phil Taylor [Central Leader] -
- Gareth Wallis [Music in Parks] -
- Andrew Szusterman [Channel Z] -
- Fiona Wylens [The 'Punter' Judge] -
- Karen Temple [Temple Bar, Auckland] -

Last year's winner SODA will be performing while the judging is taking place.

And the prizes are:

1ST PRIZE:

- $5,000 recording and mastering at the prestigious York Street Studios -
- Duplication of 500 CDs at Software Images, New Zealand's leading replicator of digital media -
- Guaranteed airplay on Channel Z -
- An advertisement in the NZ Musician Magazine -
- 2 hours of aerial advertising from Airborne Ads -
- Guaranteed airplay from Vision 100 -
- The Index Music Directory -

2ND PRIZE:

- 20 hours of recording at MAINZ [Music and Audio Institute of New Zealand] -
- 100 x 4 colour CD-Rs in plastic wallets from Software Images -

3RD PRIZE:
