Satellite Media Group, the producers of music television shows Space, Squeeze, m2 and the publishers of Rip It Up magazine and Coca-Cola New Zealand have created a new platform for aspiring New Zealand musicians - LAUNCHPAD. Its aim is simple - to launch previously unsigned artists into the stratosphere.

So, if you're a band who?ve been playing together for a couple of years and feel that you?re ready to take the next step but don't know how - LAUNCHPAD could be the kick-start you need.

There will be four rounds of judging throughout the year with all genres of music eligible. There will be a panel of music-industry judges who will shortlist the winners, the final winner of each round will be picked by public vote via the Space and Coke websites.

Each of the four winners will have a music video produced for them to the tune of $10,000. The videos will be put together by the team responsible for music videos for bands such as Sommerset, DJ Logikal, Garageland, Rammekin, Steven Malkmus and Tim Finn.

They will also make a live appearance on Space, be profiled in Rip It Up magazine and get a helping hand with PR to introduce their music to the radio and recording industry.
