The magazine will feature New Zealand music in different genres, and is FREE. It will be distributed nationwide through music stores, cafes and at local gigs. The theme for this magazine is that it is a magazine done by the youth for the youth. The idea came from the True Colours concert in May, 2000. The team that runs this magazine have such a passion for New Zealand music that they think producing the magazine will expand the youth's knowledge on New Zealand music. They also want this magazine to help promote New Zealand music. The first issue will be available in May 2003, in time for New Zealand music month with interviews with The Brunettes, DJ SL, Unique, Dubious Brothers, Goodshirt, Rubicon, King Kapisi, Oscar Knightly, Jane Yee and Nesian Mystik. The magazine will feature a MC page, a DJ page, Polynesian music page and an up and coming page. Following its huge success in South East Asia, Europe and South America, the crew and DJs will be boarding the plan to New Zealand in April. They are running competitions and events to find and expose the freshest talents and skills in each country they visit, so far, the DJs, have rocked. With part of the prize to play alongside Oakenfold and other Thirst DJs at the main event, these guys have seen their careers take off since being found @ Thirst. NEW MUSIC INITIATIVE - LAUNCHPAD: Satellite Media Group, the producers of music television shows Space, Squeeze, M2 and the publishers of Rip It Up and Coca-Cola New Zealand have created a new platform for aspiring New Zealand musicians - LAUNCHPAD. Its aim is simple - to launch previously unsigned artists into the stratosphere. So, if you're a band who have been playing together for a few years, and feel that you're ready to take the next step but don't know how, Launchpad could be the kick-start you need. There will be four rounds of judging througout the year with all genres of music eligible. There will be a panel of music-industry judges who will shortlist the winners, with the final winner of each round being picked by the public via the Space and Coke websites. Each of the four winners will have a music video produced for them to the tune of $10,000. The videos will be put together by the team responsible for music videos for bands such as Sommerset, DJ Logikal, Garageland, Rammekin, Steven Malmus and Tim Finn. They will also get to make a live appearance on Space, be profiled in Rip It Up magazine and get a helping hand with PR to introduce the music to the radio and recording industry.
