The audio duo of Nick Farrands and Jason Johnston formed while based in London. Farrands is the driving force behind the Substax sound with Johnston heading art design. Substax have performed live at locations such as Galatos, Studio 9, Splore Festivals and Resolution 2002/03. They have also DJ'd at locations such as Coast Bar, De Bretts and at numerous private functions. Sunvalley Sounds: Kog Transmissions House imprint, Reliable Recordings, is proud to present the next definitive chapter in New Zealand dance music, “Sunvalley Sound”. A unique house compilation focusing on New Zealand’s own production talent, Sunvalley Sound delivers the freshest and finest in house cuts from around Aotearoa. Selected and compiled by two of the scenes leading figures, Joost Langeveld (Subware) and Roger Perry (Reactormusic), the aim of the compilation is to bring light to not only our own established artists but the fresh faces of the emerging underground, plucking them from inside the countries clubs and studios, and filtering our own NZ sound into people’s homes and stereos. The sounds of the compilation range from club floor fillers to the deeper end of the spectrum, giving the listener a taste of New Zealand’s favourite dance genre. Sunvalley Sound features tracks and remixes from Subware, Cuffy + LeonD, Dick Johnson, Reactormusic and more. The Sunvalley Sound tour commences on March 21 and goes nationwide; included in the touring party are Subware, Roger Perry, Cuffy and a host more in each city.
