Well known bassist Willy Seiffert was sadly killed in a car accident on
Wednesday morning (23 July)

Willy had been the manager of the Palmerston North Rockshop for the past 18 months and has played with NZ greats such as Hello Sailor, Bull Frog Rata, Ray Columbus, Lorina Harding, Christine White, Karen Hunter and many more. He also wrote for the NZ Musician Magazine.

The funeral was held Friday 25th July in Palmerston North, but there will be informal memorials for Willy in Auckland and Wellington on Thursday 31st July.

The Auckland venue is Java Jive (from 8pm). Enquiries to the Java Jive [email protected] 376-5870.

NZ Musician Magazine will be running a substantial obituary in the next issue. So, if you would like to contribute, please email through up to 250 words to [email protected] by next Friday 1st August.

Willy's death is a sad loss to the NZ music community and he will be sadly missed by many.

Just trying to confirm that Willy played with Ray Columbus for an article. I spoke to one person who says that he did, anything you can tell me to give me a bit more confidence
