In a time when New Zealand is abundant with great female vocalists, a new name emerges today that will make you sit up, take notice and give thanks to whatever it is that blesses Aotearoa with creative talent.

That name is LA Mitchell and today, August 13 2007, she releases her first album Debut, a beautiful showcase of her undeniable talents, producing a distinctly New Zealand flavour of soul.

Debut is a sparkling collection of seductive soul and jazz. Her songs come from a place of honesty, laced with emotion as they narrate her progression as a woman and a musician.

Mitchell wrote and produced Debut, engineered by Daimon Schwalger (The Nomad).

Born in Blenheim, singer-songwriter / musician Mitchell has developed a strong identity in the South Island and in particular Christchurch, where she is now based. Radio listeners may already be familiar with her debut single, Just A Girl From A Small Town.

She has worked with prominent artists Flip Grater, Trillion, Matt Barus, Solaa, Harry Harrison and The Dukes, and has played in support for INXS, Gomez and the MTV ‘Kick Start’ New Zealand Finals. Mitchell has also performed at the 2005 APRA Silver Scroll Awards and at the Coca-Cola Christmas in the Park.

Debut is available now in all good record stores, distributed by Rhythmethod. Mitchell will be announcing live performances scheduled
for later this year.
