New Live Venue in Christchurch

From the 1st May, not only will you be able to tune into RDU in Christchurch on the 98.5 FM frequency for a number of New Zealand Music Month events, you’ll also be able to go and pinch a DJ and grab a cup of good coffee.

C1 Expresso on High Street is converting part of its premises so that RDU can broadcast speciality music shows as well as stage live music events.

Currently broadcasting from the University of Canterbury, RDU’s base in the central city allows a freshening of format and a more interactive, urban feel to the station. Steve Bowden, station manager says, "I think it’s an exciting and innovative development. From rdu’s perspective it gives us a physical presence in the central city, a venue from which we can broadcast band and DJ performances live-to-air and the opportunity to involve a live audience in the broadcast."

To celebrate the official opening of the studio, C1 and rdu will host a very important people launch on Saturday 1st May. And proving all the technical stuff works, the party will be broadcast live-to-air.
