Summer Fusion 2008! Posted: Wed Dec 3, 2008 8:26 pm http://www.myspace.com/summerfusionkidneysocietyaucklandnz To celebrate the onset of summer and to give New Zealanders a chance to acknowledge the effort and courage it takes for people with kidney failure to get on with life, Kidney Society Auckland has put together 'Summer Fusion'. This 17 track compilation CD is an easy listening blend to 'while away' a lazy summer's afternoon or to ‘kick off’ your Kiwi summer get-together. 'Summer Fusion' is an eclectic mix of music from many genres including pop, jazz-soul, reggae dub, hip-hop, country, folk/rock, indie, you name it! All of the original Kiwi artists/bands have each generously donated a track to show their support for people whose lives are touched by kidney failure. The artists are: Nathan Haines, P-Money, Salmonella Dub, Siren Junkies, Ted Brown, The New Freedom, The Septembers, Joanne Capel, Andrew Healey, Christine Jakefield, Anna Kaye, Avril Moore, Jo Pavletich, Rose Reece-Morgan, Baz St.John, T-Jay and Katie Thompson. (Please see CD sleeve content attached for brief bio and list of artists and tracks.) Contributing artist Nathan Haines says “The Kidney Society Auckland have been doing wonderful work for many years and providing a song for 'Summer Fusion' was the least I could do, keep up the good work”. Anthony Stretch from The Septembers “ With much love and respect, we are 100% proud to be behind this initiative. ”Katie Thompson “What’s better than doing what you love while helping others at the same time. By purchasing 'Summer Fusion' you get an awesome CD jam-packed with Kiwi talent!” Proceeds from the sale of the CD and album release party on Sunday 30th November 2008 will support Kidney Society Auckland. 'Summer Fusion' is available from Robert Harris Cafes (Auckland & Northland stores only), Guada Fiesta Bar - Manukau City, Kidney Society Auckland and various other outlets from the 30th November 2008. Fundraising & Public Relations Manager Jo Pavletich says, “The generosity of the artists and sponsors has touched us all. This Christmas and summer we invite you to give the gift of music and at the same time help the Kidney Society support people with kidney failure and their families. We are proud to present 'Summer Fusion' and we imagine copies of the CD will turn up in Santa sacks and under many Kiwi Christmas trees across the land! The talent of the artists and the wide variety of music genres promises something rather special for everyone!”. For close to 30 years Kidney Society Auckland has walked alongside people with kidney failure and their families, by providing emotional and practical support in many ways. Over a thousand people with kidney failure in Auckland and Northland are alive today and contribute to society like everyone else, thanks to dialysis and kidney transplants. Theirs is life at a price, especially for people who dialyse four times daily or need three five hour sessions a week on a kidney machine. These treatments, done at home or in a hospital dialysis unit, are a burden that most New Zealanders could not possibly imagine fitting into their own busy lives. Kidney Society Auckland expresses its gratitude to the artists, their record labels, music publishers and sponsors including Rotary International, Lions Clubs International, Kiwanis Clubs Division 1 & 10 Auckland, Amstore Ltd, Magnets NZ Ltd, Guada Fiesta Bar-Manukau City, Robert Harris Coffee Roasters, The Soundroom, College Hill Productions, Corporate Consumables, Aarkim Plastics Ltd, Ellar Graphics Ltd, Mike Chunn, Murray Patten, Tami Smith, Graphic Designer Kimberley Mulcock and Mark Pavletich. |
