The New Zealand Music Managers Forum and the NZ Music Commission are proud to present the May Music Month Seminars 'How to Break Into the Australian Market'.

During the last week of May, a series of seminars will be held nationwide in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin.

Speakers are:

Sashya Jayawardena - Tour Manager / Promoter and Event Manager Australia

Sashya has been involved in the Australian music industry for some 14 years. As a promoter and tour manager, she has worked with a host of leading international artists touring Australia and New Zealand including Kanye West, N.E.R.D./Pharrell Williams, Coldplay, Nas, The Black Eyed Peas, Beck, John Legend, Jurassic 5, The Roots, Snow Patrol, Jenny Lewis, Mos Def, Scribe, Air, Mercury Rev, Gang Starr and many more.

Sashya works both independently and in conjunction with Australia's leading concert promoters and festivals including Michael Coppel Presents, Frontier Touring, Chugg Entertainment, Fuzzy Touring, V Festival Australia, Parklife Festival, Good Vibrations Festival and Splendour in the Grass.

Prior to promoting tours, Sashya was a freelance journalist and music presenter on several community radio stations, as well as launching and publishing Australia's first national urban and electronic music magazine, 'Substance' in 1996.

Chris Wu - Popfrenzy Australia

Chris runs an Australian Music Company, Popfrenzy. Since it's inception in 2003 they've dabbled in nearly everything that's available in music. Right now though, it's strictly a record label and touring/events company. On the label side they have put out records from a who's who of international 'alternative' acts such as Of Montreal, Black Mountain, Gossip, Camera Obscura, The Juan Maclean and many others.

Recently, they have begun signing local acts starting with Sydney's Songs and Melbourne's Institut Polaire. Touring wise they've brought 'downunder' the likes of Blonde Redhead, Metronomy, Gossip, CSS, Deerhunter and countless others. Previously, we've also booked various venues around Sydney as well as starting and running the retail record store Gifted for a year in 2005/06. www.popfrenzy.com.au

Brent Harris - Cut Off Your Hands.

Cut Off Your Hands formed in 2006 and over the last 3 years have released two EP's and an album, while touring the world to massive acclaim.

Australia was the first country Cut Off Your Hands conquered before turning their attention to Europe, and the band have toured the nation extensively. Brent Harris is the drummer for Cut Off Your Hands.

Teresa Patterson - CRS Music Management.

Teresa has worked in the Music Industry for over 17 years.

She started at Polygram Records where she worked for five years, starting as a Sales Representative, before becoming Promotions Manager and finally Label Manager for Polydor/Motown/A&M. Teresa then worked at Virgin Music as Marketing/Label Manager for five years. For the last 7 years she has worked at CRS Music Management as Manager for Scribe, Elemeno P, Deja Voodoo, Carly Binding, Blindspott and The Have. Several of her artists have released and toured Australia.
