Music Industry Workshop Posted: Thu Jul 29, 2004 4:20 pm BUSINESS ISSUES FOR PERFORMERS Date: Friday 13 August, 2004 Start: 11am End: 12:30pm Venue: SkyCity Auckland Convention Centre Presented in conjunction with The Music Expo Sound:Vision 2004 In the music business there are "overnight successes" and there are those who work hard for years to make a living from doing what they love. What we've found is that the "overnight successes" are the result of hard working, business savvy people who put their efforts into careful planning and managing of their business operations. Making sure you are knowledgeable of basic business management is crucial for people working in the creative industries. Some common questions we get asked by people running businesses in the music industry: - Where can I go for help and advice when it comes to my business? - What are my legal obligations as a business? - How can I plan ahead to know where my business will be in 5 years? When it comes to the entertainment business the answers are not always obvious. That’s why New Zealand Trade & Enterprise has a fully funded programme for people who make music their business. In Auckland these workshops and one-on-one coaching sessions are run by chartered accounting firm Gosling Chapman, which draws on its own extensive experience of successful entertainment business practice and expertise. Nici Wickes of Gosling Chapman will be presenting a FREE workshop on Level 4 of the SkyCity Auckland Convention Centre from 11am-12.30pm, Friday 13 August. Attendees will be able to visit The Music Expo Sound:Vision 2004, which is being staged at the SkyCity Auckland Convention Centre from August 13 to 15, at no cost. Entry is from Level 3 of the SkyCity hotel/casino on Victoria Street |
