14. Writing Musician composing and arranging course

Course starts Feb 2005 @ MAINZ in Auckland city on a Monday and Thursday from 6.30 - 8.30pm for ten weeks.

Absolute beginners can complete it but they have to work! People have surprised themselves at what they learned in the time and all agreed with the choice of content. It is not specific to any music style so will help a writer whatever music they are into.

We learn the basic theory and how to read in the first two nights then we're off! Each week guest musicians play the music of the students. Singers, orchestral, rock and jazz players demonstrate their instruments then play the charts.

Designed and run by Clive Cockburn, 'The Writing Musician' is based loosely on the Grove School of Music of Los Angeles where he studied but content is decided by what is necessary to know, to survive in the 'business'. Clive has over twenty years experience as a professional composer/arranger - for his CV and examples of his work visit - www.nzfilmcomposer.com

The fees are $1,500 +GST for the twenty nights. If two people come to the course together it will cost each of them $1,200. If three people do, it will reduce to $1,000.

If you would like to take part or discuss anything contact Clive - tel. (09)379 8793 - [email protected]
