Breaks Co-Op announced St James show
Posted: Wed Sep 14, 2005 7:09 pm
Friday 7 October promises to be a night to remember at an all seated St James Theatre when two of the country’s most acclaimed live acts take the stage.

Anglo-New Zealanders Breaks Co-Op play their first Auckland headline show fresh from a nationwide tour with Goldenhorse, and are joined by Auckland groove merchants SJD.

Breaks Co-Op caught the ears of many new fans last month with the NZ Herald calling their show a “shining performance” and an “effortless wonder”.

Breaks Co-Op are based around the studio talents of New Zealanders Zane Lowe and Hamish Clark, and Englishman, Andy Lovegrove.

Lowe’s commitments to his awardwinning UK broadcasting career mean that he is yet to perform his songs with the live band but – emphasising the co-operative at work in Breaks Co-Op – local musos Rodney Fisher of Goodshirt, Rio Hemopo of Trinity Roots and Tom Atkinson (SJD, One Million Dollars) have all joined Lovegrove and Clark in the live group.

The Sound Inside, Breaks Co-Op’s second album, has sold over 25,000 copies since its New Zealand release in April and is now scheduled for release in the UK via the prestigious EMI-owned label, Parlophone.

'The Sound Inside' and its hit single 'The Otherside' also see Breaks Co-Op featuring promintently in the upcoming NZ Music Awards where the group are finalists for 'Best Album', 'Single' and 'Songwriters of the Year'.

SJD have already taken home two Tuis this year, as they picked up 'Best Producers' and 'Best Engineer' for their superb release 'Southern Lights'.

Tickets on sale on from Monday 12th September from Ticket Direct and Real Groovy.
