SoundSplash 06 - Acts Wanted Posted: Tue Sep 27, 2005 9:42 pm The organizers of the SoundSplash Festival 2006 Announce an opportunity for unsigned acts and up and coming fresh artists to open the Festival next year. The Motherland Collective will be accepting demo recordings up until November, and announce the opening act in a December press release. The offer is open to Bands, Djs and Soundsystems. The only requirement is that the style has to be in the Bass culture format... whether that is Roots to rub a dub, Afro beat to Latin and all urban styles in between. The music must also be of a conscious & positive nature. Please forward all demos & materials to: The Motherland Collective Ltd PO Box 117, Raglan, New Zealand SoundSplash Eco Reggae Festival 2006 Waitangi Weekend, February 4th at Wainui Reserve, Raglan The fourth SoundSplash Eco Reggae Festival will be a spiritual celebration of the nation, encompassing music, stalls, and food. SoundSplash will be held at the scenic Wainui Reserve which is of a natural amphitheatre 500 meters from the beach. All artists invited to play are consciously motivated, and do not adhere strictly the reggae format that SoundSplash is renowned for. The festival's aural and audio excursions include roots, ragga, dub, dancehall, drum'n'bass to downbeat, Latin, hip hop, rap and afro beat, all brought to you by performers and DJs from all over New Zealand and the globe. Roots and bass culture coming your way! The festival attracts a broad demographic from all echelons of the community, and we encourage children and families to attend. Many back-packers and travellers time their holidays to coincide with the event. SoundSplash runs for just under 18 hrs, with the main stage closing around 3am with the heavyweight marquee rolling rhythms until the next day. SoundSplash is an eco-focused festival. The ultimate aim for the organizers of the SoundSplash Eco Reggae Festival is to accomplish a 100 per cent zero waste. For the 2005 festival, Motherland Collective achieved an 80 per cent recyclable diversion rate. Most of the food stalls are organic the aim is for all of them GE-Free. All of the non-food stalls are handpicked and are mostly small creative operators. SoundSplash 2006 attendance will be capped to 5000, including artists, volunteers and staff, due to parking restrictions on the reserve. The line up for this year’s festival will be announced at the start of October and tickets will go on sale from mid October. "(The SoundSplash festival)… is going from strength to strength each year..." Grant Smithies, Sunday Star Times. "Brilliant weather, great company and some top reggae and roots bands turned SoundSplash into the perfect Saturday night session at Raglan." Waikato Times "From its small beginnings, the SoundSplash Festival has emerged as one of the country's premier reggae events." Taranaki Daily News "...this year the festival-of-choice was SoundSplash 2005, brought to you by Motherland Collective..." NZ Musician |
