With Gold and almost double Platinum sales in New Zealand and several years of enormously successful touring, much loved Wellington-based reggae funk band The Black Seeds return to Australia once more; following the release of their second album 'On The Sun' via LOOP Recordings/Shock Distribution in late 2005.

'On The Sun' debuted in the New Zealand album charts at #3 and is now close to double platinum sales. The new album once again features the reggae/dub from their debut album but introduces a heavy funk soul flavour that has become a recent feature of their live shows

An eight piece group, The Black Seeds produce a uniquely Pacifican blend of soul, funk, reggae and dub sounds that has set dancefloors alight across Australasia. The Black Seeds debut 'Keep on Pushing' (2001) won the band rave reviews and critical acclaim, and has now sold over 12,000 copies.

In 2005 the addition of new members Tim Jarray (bass) and Jarney Murphy
(drums) has seen the band revitalised in its live format and standout shows across New Zealand demonstrated the strength of this new lineup. 2005 also saw the band tour Australia twice; extending their reach to Perth, Brisbane, Byron Bay and Coolum on the Sunshine Coast and to their usual packed houses in Sydney and Melbourne.

The band also took on Europe for the 2005 summer festival season, playing shows in Holland, Wales, Scotland and Ireland as well as three sold out shows at London¹s renowned Neighbourhood venue. In early 2006 'On The Sun' sailed back into the NZ top 20 album charts after the band headlined the Rhythm and Vines festival in Gisbourne, and the band are currently touring the rest of the country and working on their hotly anticipated third album, due in May 2006.
