dDub Announces ‘Awake at Dawn’ Tour Dates
Posted: Thu Feb 16, 2006 9:28 pm
dDub is pleased to announce a 20-date NZ-wide tour in support of their forth-coming debut album ‘Awake at Dawn’. It has already been a busy summer for the Auckland based rock/roots/reggae outfit with awesome performances at Rhythm & Vines, Soundsplash, and Lyttleton Festival. But the momentum doesn’t seem to be letting up. The band will travel extensively through late Feb/ early March as a part of the University Orientation ’06 tour playing alongside Kora, Rhombus and Katchafire. This will be followed by a numerous dates through-out March culminating in a grand finale performance at Auckland’s Galatos on April 8th.

Further up-dates and details on the album can be found at http://www.ddub.co.nz/

Second Press Release:

Today is a significant day for dDub. It marks the arrival of their long-awaited debut album Awake at Dawn via Border Music, and the announcement of a nationwide tour in support of this.

Fresh from a magical performance at Splore and the Devonport Wine and Food Festival over the weekend, dDub also received high praise from the NZ Herald, with the four star review stating: “[lead singer] Derek Browne is a master of sing-along phrasing – tracks like ‘Give Up Your Love’ carry perfect hooks… the production shines, Matt Shanks’ bass boasts more monster than King Kong, and the arrangements carry signs of a fine-tooth comb”.

Add to this the incredible response and feedback to the band’s live shows at many prominent NZ music festivals, including Gisborne’s Rhythm & Vines, Raglan’s Soundsplash Festival and The Queenstown Winter Festival – where they are regulars on the bill – and it’s little wonder dDub are being heralded by many as one of Aotearoa’s finest live acts.

Drawing their influences from the heart of rock, roots, reggae, dub and ska, Awake at Dawn is a fusion of flavours distinctly dDub in style, representing the culmination of years of hard work and the realisation of a long-held dream: “This album is a milestone in the dDub journey” says Derek Browne. “To finally have the songs recorded [and] set in time for people to actually take away with them is fantastic.”

dDub will continue to woo audiences throughout March and April during their album release and Orientation tour with other high-profile acts including Katchafire, Rhombus and Kora.

Full tour dates can be found on the muzic.net.nz gig guide.
