Gomez Posted: Sun Mar 11, 2007 11:56 am Formed in the latter half of the 1990s, British band GOMEZ started in the minds of lifelong friends Ian Ball and Olly Peacock, whose common obsession with music and lack of enthusiasm for the Manchester ‘baggie’ scene enthused them to move away from the current trends and forge a band with its own significant identity. Bringing on board Ben Ottewell, Tom Gray (vocals, guitar, keyboards) and Paul Blackburn (bass, guitar) over the following year, the new 5-piece developed their unusual three-vocalist style which despite its incongruent workings, quickly established the distinctive GOMEZ sound. Through the 90s and into the millennium the group continued to cultivate their talents, releasing a total of 5 studio albums, all of which received widespread critical acclaim – debut Bring It On picking up the Mercury Music Prize for Album Of The Year in ’98 - and with releases such as Liquid Skin selling over a quarter of a million in just 3 months, they also gained notable commercial success. A special tour edition of Gomez's new studio album “How We Operate” will be released leading up to the tour which features a bonus 'See The World Live EP'recorded at The Fillmore, San Francisco in May 2006. It features live versions of tracks from 'How We Operate' as well as older classics. 'How We Operate'is produced by Gil Norton (Pixies, Foo Fighters) the album is a stellar collection of lush melodies and beautiful pop songs, including the powerhouse title track, the uplifting gem “See The World’ and the playfully longing “girlshapedlovedrug”...
