Powertool Records Info Posted: Thu Mar 29, 2007 2:08 pm Hello There, The new album from ..... PT067 - Brother Love .... 'The Man Is Just a Boy' is being released to shops on the 1st April. We are celebrating with a release gig tomorrow night at the Indie Club at Bacio (309 K'rd Rd, Auckland). There is a special release deal of $15 for the new cd including Entry. This is strictly limited so be early to avoid disappontment. Doors open at 8pm. If you just want to take in the show , entry is $10. BROTHER LOVE + THE OGDEN STEERS (Palmerston North) + SATANS LITTLE SISTER at Bacio, Thursday 29th March. * Martin Henderson (aka Brother Love) will be spinning discs from his eclectic collection between the bands. This is a 'group' who have always mixed well-crafted songs with a fresh punk attitude and a willingness to explore which sees them crossing genre boundaries like they never existed. In the course of their development, they have been compared to everything from Human Instinct and Jimi Hendrix, to Sonic Youth and Sebadoh, to The Clean and Split Enz. For more information ....check out http://www.powertoolrecords.co.nz/brotherlove.htm Other new releases out this month through Powertool include..... PT065: Robert Scott - Tascam Hits ...Train comin' round the bend....Robert Scott keeps on goin'....album number, um lost count. This is his Krautrock Album of sorts, well in parts. Home Recordings from Port Chalmers, with that unique Tascam cassette compression. This was done around 95/97, and yes Conny is the late great Conny Plank. A busy year is under way. There will be Bass action with Clean Tour, and maybe an album written on the way. Later in the year a Bats album is planned, its all written, its a case of finding the time. Easter will see him don his Folk outfit and sing Songs of Otago's past at a folk festival in Naseby. Also in the pipeline is the next Electric Blood album, recorded on a family holiday in Wanaka over summer. We think it's number 14 for them, and the first to feature their parents. He has teamed up with Gina Rocco again for an EP called The Other Island, due Mayish, it follows the themes of Moonlight Potato. This time they have a hand from Donald Ferns on a few tracks. There is also a collaboration with Hector Hazard for a German movie by Arne Papenhagen. "I want to branch out a bit more" he was recently quoted as saying. If you need to know more about what he has done hit the google button. http://www.powertoolrecords.co.nz/bobscott.htm PT066: J. Zumpano - Living Room Recordings Jason Zumpano ex. drummer from Sub Pop Band Zumpano. A band that also included New Pornographer leader Carl Newman. This is essentially an album of songs recorded in J.'s living room and are sketches for upcoming songs that will feature on his band Sparrow's future projects. Mostly stripping back songs with just voice and piano that provide an insight into the strong songwriting power Mr Zumpano possesses. Songs full of superior melody, harmony and strength that ensure joyous repeat listens. http://www.powertoolrecords.co.nz/jzumpano.htm MOON002: Moon Whispers - La Spirale The follow up album from Wellington's Moon Whispers after their stunning self titled EP. They are an unique blend of goth and alt country. Charismatic leader Elisa Di Napoli is a delight to behold looking just as stunning as she sounds. Imagine the Cowboy Junkies crossed with Bauhaus and you may get an idea of where Elisa's songs sit. http://www.powertoolrecords.co.nz/moonwhispers.htm Cheers Andrew Maitai Powertool Records www.powertoolrecords.co.nz |
