Rhombus announce Winter Tour of New Zealand Posted: Wed Jul 11, 2007 7:19 pm New Zealand's premier live funk band Rhombus are set to fire up the jets and blow out the dog days of winter, today announcing their 2007 Winter Tour. The six-date tour will see Rhombus playing as far south as Queenstown through to the warmer climes of North Auckland during July and August. The Wellington-based band, whose sound traverses the genres of electronic funk / dub & bass / hip-hop and soul, hit the road beginning July 19 in Wanaka before wrapping up at the Leigh Sawmill Cafî`n August 25. The tour features a strong support line-up, with Rikki Gooch (ex Trinity Roots) and Goosebump lined up for the Wanaka performance, Sunshine Soundsystem set for Queenstown and The Retainers and a very special live appearance from Hayley J Hansell supporting the two Auckland region gigs. Rhombus recently returned from a successful tour through Australia and Japan, where they continued to make strong inroads into the thriving Japanese market. The band plans to return to Japan later this year. Rhombus are also continuing work on their third studio album, set for release in summer 07/08. Last years international release of Onwards: Remixes & Archives continues to sell strongly in Australia and New Zealand and Japan. Rhombus has forged a well-deserved reputation with their unique sound, as one of New Zealands most original live acts. "Their feelgood sounds and thought-provoking lyrics have a unique edge Their shows are a mix of improvisations, world music, hip-hop, dance, soulful rhythms and more." - The Gold Coast Bulletin, Australia. |
