Kings of Leon confirm NZ tour dates

Heavily bearded rock band Kings of Leon have confirmed they will play two shows in New Zealand early next year.

The Nashville four-piece, consisting of three brothers and a cousin, will play two shows - Wellington's TSB on January 11 and Auckland's Vector Arena on January 12.

They last played in New Zealand on the main stage at the Big Day Out in 2006.

The band's three albums have been hugely popular, with this year's Because of the Times hitting No. 1 on the New Zealand music charts.

It comes on the back of several major tour announcements, with Muse, Justin Timberlake and Snow Patrol all playing shows before the end of the year.

Tickets for the shows go on sale on September 17.
