For all who love Stoner Rock, Sons of Kyuss (yes thats right, Kyuss tribute band) are playing at The Adelaide, Newtown, Wellington on sat Nov 3rd with Stone Gods, Okasite and Teabag.
I was luckly enough to catch thier gig in Gisborne and it F@*CKIN ROCKED!!!!
All I can say is that it is about time!!!

Yeah cool eh!, as far as im aware they are only doing a few gigs and thats it which is a pity, New Zealand needs more stoner rock bands!!!!

Yeah NZ has been behind on that sort of rock & metal, probably just because it's not super popular or flavour of the month.

Good to see some bands emerging doing that stuff.

If only Corrosion of Conformity would come back! (okay, not strictly stoner or sludge, but close).

For sure, I agree. there seems to be quite a big scene in Melbourne, just not here.

True about COC i kicked myself i missed them when they opened for Pantera (was it?) I have a live DVD of one of thier concerts and it went off!!!

Live Volume is a brilliant live DVD.

Yeah it was Pantera they opened for. I was more there for CoC actually - Pantera were brilliant though, however Phil let them down by opening his big mouth.

CoC were flawlesss, but the set was too short. They squeezed in heaps of my favourites though.

I left the Sydney Stoner scene (huge at the time) in 2000 to come live in NZ. The only reaction I got at was What? Stoner Rock? What's that? It's taken years but looks like the Big Fuzz is starting to desend in NZ. It's happening here in ChCh. Big gig here in December, details are on NZmetal.com - Christchurch Forums.
What I miss from Sydney is the very regular international gigs like Monster Magnet (one of the best gigs I've ever been to) FuManChu, Cathedral ect. Hell we don't even hear when their in the same hemisphere. Saw Kyuss kick Metalicas bum in '95. Also miss the great Auz stoner bands Thumlock, Daredevil, Shamans Ride but hey I much prefer where I live thankyou.

Well Suns of Kyuss kicked arse at The Adelaide, it f%&kin ROCKED!!!! Great to see a decent turn out too!!
Stone gods opened for them and they also rocked, hope to see more from them, check them out on Myspace.......
