Phat 08 Information Posted: Wed Oct 31, 2007 3:50 pm PHAT IMPROVEMENTS AND INFO FOR PHAT 08! Traffic Queues; we have taken the following steps to ensure the huge wait times from last year do not re-occur: - Moved the pre-party from Berlins onto the site itself thus spreading the arrival times for punters over a 2 day period from when the gates open until the first major acts appear on the mainstage; this is the system we used to use on the old Canaan Downs site on the much more dangerous 13km one-lane access road to that site on Takaka hill, last year approx 2500 punters arrived for the pre-party (half the audience) who then all jumped on the access roads simultaneously as the other 2500 punters were arriving from Christchurch & the North Island, hence the gridlock. - Worked with the police, Buller council roading engineers & transit NZ to establish a Traffic Management Plan, to be overseen by a fully qualified Traffic Management Supervisor & a crew of up to 12 stop-go crew who will control all of the one way bridges & intersections in the general area as required by the Police. - Widened the single lane access road to allow passing or passing bays from Brown Creek Rd intersection along the length of Rough Creek Rd; - Employed an additional 50 processing staff for the first 2 days & created an 8 lane ticket/searching processing area to ensure speedy & efficient entry to the site...punters can assist by having their ticket & photo ID ready as they approach the Rough Creek Rd intersection. - Additional security staff will direct traffic thru the site to camping spots, which will be filled from the top of the site (area A on the sitemap below) down to the gate (except for large vehicles such as buses & trucks which will be camped/parked in area F)....for this reason, if you wish to camp with a group of friends please arrange to arrive on site in convoy! - We have flattened, drained & installed culverts across all camping zones to allow city cars to access most areas & to increase the overall camping/parking capacity. - We have also installed a permanent water supply & 2 x 19 blocks of flush toilets (including 2 disabled toilets) away from the access roads to keep punters off the roads as much as possible, there will also be strategically placed latrines for males in all of the camping, dance zones. - We will have an on-site radio station that will be able to be heard in the general Inangahua area which will broadcast any snarlups with traffic which may occur due to accidents etc; - All traffic arriving from the north will turn left into Brown Creek Road at the Inangahua township & approach Rough Creek Rd from the north; all traffic from the south will be directed onto Brown Creek Rd at the Inangahua Landing (11km south of Inangahua) & approach Rough Creek Rd from the south. - Please follow the directions of our Traffic Management Staff (green vests) & security (orange vests) at all times...they are there to help you & your fellow punters have the best time possible. Basic Information: PHAT08 info : Phat08 is a 4 night/5 day festival staged at Inangahua between Westport, Reefton & Murchison on the West Coast of the south island from 29 December 2007 until 2nd January 2008. Full price tickets for Phat08 will be $195 + booking fee limited to 5000 in total! BE IN EARLY TO AVOID DISAPPOINTMENT! Phat08 is all ages but under 15 year olds must be accompanied by an adult & photo ID is required to obtain access to the licensed bars. Saturday the 29th of December the gates open at noon & you are able to enter the site & setup your camping spots. Free camping on site is available to all ticket holders although facilities are limited to an outdoor wilderness experience. We provide flush toilets, water on tap & a range of cash food stalls, bars (require R18 ID), coffee suppliers etc. We expect you to be as self sufficient as possible. Friendly security will check your vehicles on entry; no byo alcohol is permitted on site under the terms of our liquor license; no dogs, glass or dangerous substances such as fireworks will be admitted. The 2nd zone will fire up at 6pm on the 29th of December 2007, with the mainstage starting at noon on Sunday 30th December 2007 & both running continuously thru until 1.30pm Wednesday 2nd January 2008. We have a no-passouts policy: the reasons for this include keeping the local residents/farmers happy, safety re traffic on the narrow access road & safety re theft by persons coming & going (this has occurred in the past). The entry ticket price applies no matter how long you wish to be at the event. You are able to arrive at any point from noon 29th December 2007 (or just for the last day if that's all you want to see) but the no-pass-out policy applies from the time of entry & there are no discounts for shorter attendance. We feel confident you'll agree that even the lineup on just the last night will fully justify the ticket price! Full lineup timetables for both stages will be released prior to the event, keep checking www.phatclub.co.nz for all updates |
