Santana set to hit our shores in 08!
Posted: Thu Nov 1, 2007 12:23 pm
Chugg Entertainment is pleased to announce, that following the anticipated release of his latest album, Ultimate Santana, Carlos Santana is set to return to the shores of Australia and New Zealand.

One of the greatest musicians and legendary guitarists of our generation is set to ignite concert halls across the country in February/March 2008.

Raised in Mexico, Carlos Santana first began his love affair with music at the tender age of five when he first took up the violin. Influenced by the musical stylings of blues legends B.B. King, John Lee Hooker and T.Bone Walker, he later turned to the guitar and has been inspiring audiences worldwide ever since.

Santana’s musical career has been nothing short of remarkable with a style that transcends time and the limits of genre typecasting. Immediately recognisable, yet unlike any other, Santana has enjoyed a career that has spanned over the last four decades morphing blues, soul, jazz, rock and multi-cultural genres.

Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998 and boasting over 90 million record sales to date, Santana has showed no signs of slowing down. In recent years, Santana and his band have teamed up with a plethora of artists including Eric Clapton, Steven Tyler of Aerosmith and Rob Thomas of Matchbox Twenty on the album Supernatural, which won nine Grammy Awards - eight for Santana personally.

Critics agree it is Santana’s ability to connect with the audience while on stage that sets him apart from his contemporaries. “Santana simply explodes on stage, whilst managing to bond to each audience member as though it were an intimate show”. Rolling Stone.

Promoter Michael Chugg is thrilled to be bringing Santana back to Australasia; “We are very excited to have one of the worlds greatest contemporary bands touring down under. Santana’s energy, love & music is an inspiration for us all”.

The latest single, “Into the Night” from the album Ultimate Santana, released nationally 20th October contrasts Chad Kroeger’s raspy vocals of Nickelback fame with Carlos Santana’s smooth guitar progressions. The single itself has been given critical acclaim since its release on 6 October and is set to soar the charts internationally.

Tickets on sale Monday 29 October through Ticketmaster for the Vector arena date.
