Hip Hop Icon Heads to NZ
Posted: Thu Nov 1, 2007 4:57 pm
Outspoken hip hop icon Nas is set to blaze into New Zealand in November performing in Wellington and Auckland.

Juice TV and Black Box Label present Nas: Hip Hop Is Dead at Wellington's TSB Bank Arena on Wednesday November 28 and at the Logan Campbell Centre, Auckland on Thursday November 29.

Known as one of the masters of the international hip hop movement, Nas is recognised as one of the top five emcees in the world and is committed to showing that real hip hop is still alive and kicking.

Raised in Queensbridge, New York and the son of jazz trumpeter Olu Dara, Nas burst onto the hip hop scene in 1994 with his debut album 'Illmatic', which is considered by many to be one of the greatest hip hop albums of all time.

He went on to mainstream success with 'It Was Written' and anthems including 'Hate Me Now', 'If I Ruled The World' (featuring Lauren Hill) and 'One Mic'. His seventh studio album, 'Hip Hop Is Dead', featuring collaborations with Kanye West, Dr Dre and Nas former rival Jay-Z, was released last year. His new album, controversially titled 'Nigga', is due out in December this year.

Supporting Nas on his Hip Hop is Dead New Zealand tour is P Money, PNC, David Dallas, FMS & CPC and Tommy Grafiti.

Nas: Hip Hop is Dead is at TSB Bank Arena, Wellington on Wednesday 28 November and at the Logan Campbell Centre, Auckland on Thursday 29 November. Tickets are available from Ticketek 0800 TICKETEK or www.ticketek.co.nz
