Fancy treating yourself to a truly funky festival this Summer? Well then get yourself to the Bay of Plenty from 4-6 January, 2008 for one of the biggest lineups in world music New Zealand has ever seen. Jambalaya, a three day festival of music, dance and carnival celebration is an awesome feast for the senses like no other.

With a sizzling fusion of world music, dance, circus and percussion performances to workshops, all-night dance parties and international market stalls, all held amidst the stunning surroundings of the Rotorua Energy Events Centre and Gardens, Jambalaya is set to hot up our summer season in 2008. An eclectic diversity of events is on offer, including backstage jamming sessions and kids zone, the musical lineup is the biggest that it’s ever been.

Monobloco, an eclectic 10 piece samba percussion band direct from Brazil, will be getting everyone’s groove on as they bring us the best in all things Brazilian (www.monobloco.org) for the first time to New Zealand shores.

Another band featured on this year’s lineup is the wicked Blue King Brown from Melbourne (www.bluekingbrown.com), who have been making a name for themselves recently with their infectious afro-reggae-soulful sounds.

Our very own Katchafire will also be funking things up, along with a carefully hand-selected pick of the best from what’s hot on the global music scene, such as Ladi 6, Batucada Sound Machine, Gypsy and Carnival Samba.

Festival passes give entry to all concerts, theatre shows, all open-level workshops, after parties and jam sessions.
and with this year’s Jambalaya festival promising to be the biggest and best, there is no better way to get the party started in 2008! See www.jambalaya.co.nz for more and to be in with a chance to win a double pass. Festival passes can be purchased directly from www.jambalaya.co.nz or www.ticketek.co.nz or at Real Groovy Stores.

See you there!
