PJ Harvey support announced Posted: Wed Jan 9, 2008 4:23 pm It gives The Frontier Touring Company great pleasure to confirm Mick Harvey as support for PJ Harvey’s forthcoming Australian and New Zealand tour. Mick will perform solo in Auckland and Perth, and will be joined at all remaining shows by Rosie Westbrook on double bass. Since the late 1970’s Mick Harvey has enjoyed a highly successful career as a musical collaborator with singer/songwriter Nick Cave. Through the formation of their bands the Boys Next Door, the explosive The Birthday Party and the Bad Seeds, Mick has proved an invaluable partner to Cave, helping him realise his artistic vision on both stage and record. Concurrently with his work with Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, Mick has always made time to forge his own creative path. Over the past 23 years, Mick Harvey has been performing, recording and producing for other recording artists, composing and recording film soundtracks as well as writing, recording and internationally touring his own solo albums. Mick’s latest solo recording Two Of Diamonds was released in 2007 to critical acclaim. As well as original works, many of the songs recorded for this album refer directly to Mick Harvey’s past and the Australian musicians that have inspired him. Mick Harvey has also worked extensively with PJ Harvey throughout the past 12 years and was a featured player on her albums To Bring You My Love and Is This Desire?. In 2000 Mick co-produced PJ Harvey’s Mercury Music prize winning album; Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea. On his own Two Diamonds Mick pays tribute to PJ Harvey with a haunting rendition of her previously unreleased hypnotic love/lust song, ‘Slow-Motion-Movie-Star’. Asked by PJ to support, Mick has threatened that he will include a number of unreleased PJ Harvey songs in his set due to the absence of his regular band and to compliment the evening’s entertainment. PJ’s looming tour has been highly anticipated as she returns for the first time since 2005. Playing songs spanning her whole career, PJ will adapt each to suit her unique one-woman show. With Sydney sold out and Melbourne not far behind, tickets to see PJ Harvey this February will not last much longer. PJ HARVEY www.pjharvey.net AUSTRALIA & NEW ZEALAND 2008 TICKETS ON SALE NOW!
