OFFICIAL SCHEDULE FOR WOMAD 2008 MARCH 14TH - 16TH

The big weekend is fast approaching, and with all stages now confirmed
you can start planning your perfect WOMAD experience!

With a line-up that includes Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings, the soulful Mavis Staples, Beirut, bare-foot diva Cesaria Evora and NZ's own Kora, Phoenix Foundation and SJD, there's something for everyone to enjoy.

As well as music, dance and performance, WOMAD also features captivating artist workshops for adults and children, a global village offering retail, food and charity stalls. Plus kids can enjoy Kidzone and the Under Five Zone. If all of that weren't enough, some other fantastic activities include:

ARTISTS IN CONVERSATION

The Artist in conversation area on the Pinetum Stage offers a unique opportunity to learn more about some of the artists at WOMAD as they share their history and musical journeys.

Located on the intimate Pinetum Stage with its tranquil surroundings, the artists will chat informally with their host about their lives, their music, and the inevitable effects that each has had on the other.

Artists on the Artist in Conversation stage include Master Kong Nay, Joji Hirota, Terem Quartet, Susana Baca, Donal Lunny from Green Fire Islands, Sharon Jones, David D’Or and Toumani Diabate.

FILMS AT WOMAD

For the first time this year, WOMAD presents a selection of five documentary films, adding another dimension to the festival experience.

TASTE THE WORLD

Being able to experience cultures from around the globe is what WOMAD is all about. Now our artists are cooking for their audience at Taste the World.
Much like the diverse range of music, arts and dance, this weekend food is being used as a universal language that everybody can enjoy. Musicians and artists taking part in the event include Taraf de Haidouks from Romania, Terem Quartet from Russia, Susana Baca from Peru, Nickodemus from USA, Clube do Balanco from Brazil, The Gyuto Monks from Tibet & Australia and Maori Cuisine. These artists will present and cook recipes from their native lands while engaging in on-stage conversation about the role food and cookery play in their lives.

WOMAD full price three day passes are available from Ticketek - www.ticketek.co.nz. One day tickets are also available.
