RE: seether in auckland Posted: Tue Oct 7, 2008 4:49 pm POLITICIAN FREE GIG GUARANTEED November 8 will see Vector Arena as one of the VERY FEW politician free zones throughout New Zealand. With the full lineup now confirmed Autozamm, Corvino and Eqwanox will get it on with SEETHER for the biggest non party aligned bash of election night. While the party faithful sequester themselves in balloon and streamer decorated halls waiting to blow their party whistles (or swallow them as the night progresses) an energetic mass of young kiwis will throw their arms up in disdain, jump up and down in excitement and generally experience a pleasure far removed from anything our political grand daddies can ever hope to understand. AUTOZAMM - Part theatre, part rock n roll show, their on-stage shenanigans have got to the point “where I don’t think I’ll ever be able to look my mother in the eye again”, confesses Nick Major, lead singer. Its Ok Nick she’ll be watching the elections so you can go for it. Centred around song-writing duo Mikee Carpinter (guitarist) and Nick Major they are complimented in the current lineup by Ollie Gordon on bass who brings the recording experience of working with Shihad, Supergroove and Split Enz whilst working at York Street Studios and Jasper De Roos, one of the country’s finest rock drummers with Gramsci, Meterman and Concord Dawn pedigree. Newest addition Steve Small (keys, piano) “has really opened the sound, more dynamics and space” beams singer Nick. Steve has performed and recorded with many New Zealand icons such as Shihad, The Exponents, Don McGlashan, Emma Paki, The Verlaines, and Midge Marsden. Internationally, he has performed with pop star Belinda Carlisle, and recorded with the London Philharmonic Orchestra at George Martin’s Air Lyndhurst studio. The band has a new album available in DRAMA QUEEN. Get ready to experience the high energy package LIVE. CORVINO - Corvino are like a truck. A real big one, with multiple mammalian skulls on the bull-bars and more wheels than you can count. On top of this truck are stacks of speakers, amplifying the sweet sound of the truck's engine as it careens into the horizon on its unstoppable journey. Where would we be without trucks and their essential role in today's consumer society? The all-important delivery of goods. Corvino deliver the goods. EQWANOX – Not just another rock band from the Waikato with a Pop-Punk/Grunge feel. They were formed in 2004 by the bands core members James Hanright, Nick Douch and Aaron Clark. Citing among their influences Nirvana, Foo Fighters and Seether. 2005 saw their 1st big engagement supporting Billy Corgan of The Smashing Pumpkins (U.S.A) at The St James Theatre. The band made their radio debut on 16/04/2006 when ‘Less Than Negative’ was the ‘demo of the week’ on The Rock FM. The band has since recorded a 5 track demo at Chazz Rabbles Number 8 Wire Recording Studio which has seen songs KILLING TIME and FALLING appear on national music channel C4. In October of 2006 the band made a music video for KILLING TIME. This video has appeared on both the TALL POPPIES and THAT’S SO EMO shows on ALT TV. KILLING TIME was also used by Wellington film-maker Ben Cowper in a surfing video which features top NZ surfers. Early 2007 saw Zakk Wetton come on board as a 2nd guitarist. Zakk is actually from South Africa and while on a visit to see a friend in Pretoria seven years ago he met the guy living across the road. That guy just happened to be playing in a band called Saron Gas and his name was Shaun Morgan. That meeting and checking out a few gigs by the band motivated Zakk to take up the guitar. November 8 will see them share the same stage. Now that’s a rock story. November 8 Vector Arena SEETHER is joined by special guests AUTOZAMM, CORVINO and EQWANOX. This will be the loudest party of the night. Tickets still available through www.ticketmaster.co.nz or Real Groovy Queen Street. |
