WOMAD 2009 Earlybird Tickets On Sale Now Posted: Wed Oct 1, 2008 7:24 pm WOMAD presents 400 performers from 20 countries, on six stages from 13 15 March 2009, New Plymouth, Taranaki. A limited number of WOMAD early-bird tickets are on sale and history shows they wont last long. Early bird tickets for the 2008 WOMAD festival sold out in two-weeks and for the 2007 festival they were all gone in 10-days. Taranaki Arts Festival Trust (TAFT) chief executive Suzanne Porter says: These tickets are always popular and given people are looking more and more for a feel good factor they can rely on we expect them to be in favour as Christmas gifts this year. Early-bird ticket prices: • three-day early-bird pass is $179 • three-day early-bird pass and camping is $229 • three-day early-bird pass and marae-style accommodation is $249. For the first time a new ticket price is being offered to youth between the ages of 13 17 years (as of 13thMarch 2009). A limited number of these tickets are available. They early-bird cost of these tickets is $135. Ms Porter says over the last few years theres been a growing number of youth attending WOMAD. This ticket option has been developed to reward their support, and interest, while acknowledging their financial limitations. As WOMAD 2009 gains momentum preparation is underway for the official launch in Wellington on Wednesday 29 October. At this function the artist line-up will be announced. Details will available after this event through the media and online at www.womad.co.nz. TAFT chief executive Suzanne Porter, says: We are thrilled to be able to bring the calibre of international and New Zealand artists coming in March next year. WOMAD goers now know that we will deliver quality and exciting new features every year. Tickets can be purchased from Ticketek outlets or online at www.ticketek.co.nz. As well as music, dance and performance, WOMAD also features captivating artist workshops for adults and children, a global village offering retail, food and charity stalls. Plus kids can enjoy Kidzone and the Under Five Zone. Suzanne comments: All of this helps create the family-friendly vibe that is so unique to this event and it is this experience that keeps people returning every year". |
