Sick Disco Posted: Tue May 19, 2009 6:31 pm Sick Disco presents The History Of Dance - Saturday 30th May @ Cassette Nine w/ Rob Salmon, Roger Perry, Trakman and Grant Marshall Sick Disco is taking it back… a journey through the days of Larry Levan and the Paradise Garage, Manchester’s legendary Hacienda, Frankie Knuckles on the decks at Chicago’s Warehouse and the notoriously naughty antics of Studio 54. May 30th sees Sick Disco paying tribute to all those that paved the way, creating legendary tales that will forever live on and inspire us to create fervour on the dance floor. Sick Disco has pulled together a troupe of New Zealand's finest DJ's for the occasion. $10 after 10pm til super late... Rob Salmon New Zealand born DJ and producer Rob Salmon is best known for his quality releases on Deep Dish's label Yoshitoshi, his mixed CD 'Selections' (4th Floor/ Northcott) on NYC House label Chez Music and now releases on Hamburg's Save Room Recordings. A DJ since the late 80's, Rob's sets are renowned for pushing the boundaries of contemporary club music. He’s played at clubs and festivals around the world including nights at Centrofly, PS1 in NYC, Space in Miami, Zentra in Chicago, Bar Rumba London, The Big Day Out in Auckland and Chinese Laundry in Sydney. A skilled producer, Rob has collaborated with engineer Rob Rives (Wave Music) and has remixed tracks by a wide variety of artists from Human League to Barcelona's DJ Micasa. After many years in New York City, Rob returned to New Zealand in 2003. There he toured and hosted his own drive time radio show on George FM. Rob has since settled in Sydney, Australia where he continues to DJ and is working on new studio productions along with contributing regular mixes to Pulse Radio. Roger Perry One of the very few totally intuitive DJ’s, you can hand Roger an unknown record mid set and he’ll give it perfect placement. He feels the music and has a genuine love for what he does and a respect for the intrepidity of what he plays and those who create music. That has allowed him to become a creator himself and that passion is evident in his music. He has been a driving force in the musical culture of his country and it is fair to say that New Zealand would be a very different, and lesser place without him. The respect he has from both his peers and the generations after him who owe him so much, is both evident and no less than is his due. Grant Marshall Veteran host of George Fm’s ‘Saturday Night Vinyl’. Grant has been djing since the tender age of 16. He’s played alongside Roger Sanchez, Paul Oakenfold, DJ Falcon, Kings of Tomorrow, Stonebridge, ATFC, Axwell, Ian Carey and Kaskade. Renowned for having and giving a great time behind the decks whilst piecing together his unique brand of party house Grant Marshall puts the FUN back into clubbing. Trakman Trakman lays out the disco, italo and synth-pop. Trakman truly does now the rad from the bad. Trakman is guaranteed 100% dance floor treats. |
