BLACK SUN EMPIRE

With a reputation for dynamic, hard hitting and intense DJ sets, the Black Sun Empire crew are in constant demand for their skills on the decks and have risen to become one of the most popular live acts in drum and bass over the last 5 years. The BSE crew bring a heavyweight sound sure to ignite any dance floor and there's no weak link in the chain, with three highly capable selectors supporting each other to form a prolific and successful team. Comprising of two brothers, Milan and Micha Heyboer, and their friend Rene Verdult, the three DJ/producers behind Black Sun Empire first began working together in 1999. Inspired by the likes of Ed Rush & Optical and Kemal, they've since developed their own unique techno]driven style of drum and bass over the course of 3 full]length artist LPs and taken it worldwide, with recent tours reaching major clubs and outdoor stages across the USA, Europe and beyond, including New Zealand's prestigious Phat 08 and Phat Moon festivals. BSE continue to go from strength]to]strength, with a recent series of high]profile remixes and collaborations across the labels they operate and, in 2009, the trio are keeping up the pressure with fresh solo material and more from collaborators old and new alike.

Shadows of the Empire dubstep

BSE recently launched 'Shadows of the Empire' as an outlet for their own dubstep productions and other electronic music, with the first release receiving strong support from the likes of Headhunter (UK) and Babylon System (USA).

STATE OF MIND :

Two years after the release of their wildly popular debut album 'Take Control', State of Mind are back in force with their follow up album 'Faster than Light' :

A double CD, it features a full length album on one disc and a limited selection of bonus material on the other. The album is made up of all new studio material, alternate versions of a few select SOM vinyl releases, and a hand-full of the tracks found on the recent 'Faster then Light EP's Part 1 & 2'. It also includes collaborations with the likes of Trei, PNC, Chris.Su and more. Musically it represents a new twist on the State of Mind sound, with more complex beats and music than was found on the previous album.

This bonus disc includes remixes of some of the album tracks by some of State of Mind's favorite fellow producers such as Sigma (UK), Mindscape (Hungary), Dose (NZ) and more, plus other bonus State of Mind tracks. The material on this disc will be released as a physical copy only, it will not be available digitally.

TRUTH

Truth, undoubtedly one of New Zealand's greatest Dubstep exports; have been making a huge impact around the world with their heavy bassline riddims. An encounter with dubstep visionary Mala (Digital Mystikz) inspired the New Zealand trio to try their hand at a new sound. The result was blinding, a style that defies categorization; encompassing an array of melodies, vocals and spacious beats that range from half-step stompers to the deeper profound realms of sound; all with one common element which underpins every track; a heavy bassline riddim that lays sheer force on any system heavy enough to handle it.

Truth's big riddims have been quickly snatched up by a number of established labels including Mala's seminal label 'Deep Medi Musik' with the huge 12", (The Fatman / Stolen Children). Skream has picked up four Truth tunes (Stay / The Future/ Wednesday / Bubba Ho Step) and will be releasing them as an double vinyl EP 12" featuring for his label 'Disfigured Dubs'.
