THE DEAD WEATHER

The Frontier Touring Company are pleased to announce that one of this year’s most acclaimed rock groups The Dead Weather are heading to our shores for the first time ever in March 2010.

Birthed from a collision of some of the greatest musicians in the genre, The Dead Weather includes Alison Mosshart of The Kills on lead vocals, Jack White, originally of The White Stripes on drums, White’s Raconteur bandmate Jack Lawrence on bass and former Raconteur Dean Fertita, also of Queens of the Stone Age, on guitar.

It all started when Mosshart filled in for an unwell White at the end of a Kills/Raconteurs tour. So noticeable was the chemistry that they realised there was potential to take things further. An impromptu jam session ensued and fifteen days later, Horehound was finished and The Dead Weather was formed.

Horehound, the band’s debut LP, was released earlier this year by White’s vinyl label Third Man Records (and out now through Sony Australia). It features a hybrid of styles with each member’s distinct contributions creating a sound like no other.

“The tracks — a sludgy, bluesy blend of psych-rock guitar, alternately stark and explosive rhythms and Mosshart’s sultry-to-siren vocal — take relatively logical leaps from the members’ other bands, White’s groove-heavy drumming elevating the Dead Weather’s Stripes-esque blues-rock moods and Fertita and Mosshart pulling in atmosphere and disaffected cool, respectively” – Rolling Stone

On the live front The Dead Weather have been taking the US and UK by storm, with NME UK writing ““In the flashy if regimented world of live music, The Dead Weather already seem like a rarity in that respect…Take your eyes off this lot for a second and you run the risk of missing something extraordinary.” Their onstage presence reflects the raw energy sparking from their collaborative talent and is a performance certainly not to be missed!

So be sure to secure your tickets quickly for their upcoming March 2010 shows in Auckland, Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney and Perth. Tickets go on-sale to the general public at 9am Tuesday 24 November through Ticketek.
