Wilco Posted: Fri Nov 27, 2009 9:59 am WILCO Tickets on sale Tuesday 1st December Tuesday 27th April - The Civic, Auckland - tickets from The Edge Wednesday 28th April - The Town Hall, Wellington - tickets from Ticketek Ladies and gentlemen, please prepare yourselves for the welcome return of WILCO to our shores in 2010. The announcement comes a mere 10 months since their last visit when they recorded with Neil Finn and some of the world’s best musicians for the 7 Worlds’ Collide project and inspired by the landscape and warm weather stayed on to record the “meat and bones” of their U.S. Billboard Top 5 album “WILCO (the album)”! Heralded by critics everywhere as “the world’s most exciting rock band”, their live set clocks in at over 2 hours and is a spell-binding journey through their rich and inspiring catalogue of tunes. With seven studio albums to their credit WILCO will present a selection from their familiar past, as well as songs from this years outstanding self- titled release “WILCO (the album)”. This album is the follow-up to 2007’s Grammy nominated “SKY BLUE SKY”, which was the first WILCO recording with the band’s current line-up: Jeff Tweedy (guitar and vocals); John Stirratt (bass); Nels Cline (guitar); Glenn Kotche (drums); Pat Sansone (multiple instruments); and Mikael Jorgenson (keyboards). Alongside the new album release WILCO have had a busy year touring America and the UK, releasing a documentary style concert DVD ‘Ashes of American Flags’ and readying their full back catalogue to be made available on vinyl LP for the first time ever! A show not to be missed, WILCO are a band who have continued to grow artistically, continued to make great records, and continue to deliver live shows that are a unique and rewarding experience. www.wilcoworld.net |
