95bFM AND BRITOMART PRESENT FREE LIVE NEW ZEALAND MUSIC EVENT
bSTREET 09

Music lovers of all persuasions will take over Britomart on Saturday 19 December for bStreet, a spectacular afternoon and evening of free live New Zealand music in the heart of the CBD.

A diverse line-up of local bFM bands and DJs will play at a total of seven venues throughout the Britomart precinct... including The Naked and Famous, A.D.A.M, Thorazine Shuffle, Kidz in Space, Adi Dick, Stinky Jim, Tourettes, and Popstrangers.

The day's entertainment will begin at 3pm with mellow, family-friendly tunes on Takutai Lawn, the new grassed space in the centre of the Britomart precinct. Artisan Guns, Lisa Crawley, Dictaphone Blues, and Beats Botanical will take the outdoor stage, together with a reformed Thorazine Shuffle, playing together for the first time in 10 years!

From 8pm entertainment will kick off at six indoor venues around the precinct, including the Northern Steamship Co BrewBar, Brew on Quay, Smith Bar and 42Below party space 1942. A temporary stage will also be erected between A&M and Racket Bar in Roukai Lane, the open-air laneway running between Takutai Square and Customs Street East.

The entire evening promises an eclectic mix of genres ranging from rare groove and dancehall to live hip hop via old-school guitar rock. Audiences will be able to move freely throughout the evening between the different venues, with all gigs free of charge.

"We're stoked to be putting on bStreet again and looking forward to a massive night of music in the centre of the city," says Sarin Moddle, 95bFM Marketing Coordinator.

"We're really excited to have such a strong and diverse line-up of bFM artists and DJs taking over all these bars for the night. We hope people will come down here, kick-start their Christmas festivities and enjoy an amazing evening's worth of entertainment on us!"

This is the second bStreet event, following on from the success of the 2006 event, held in the Britomart area during its fledgling days as an entertainment precinct.

"It's a brilliant opportunity for people to come down and find out what Britomart is all about," says Sarah Hull, Marketing Director for Britomart owner Cooper and Company. What we're building down here is a community, a collection of great places and spaces where people can move freely, explore and make discoveries and bStreet is the perfect reflection of that."

"This will be our first of many music events focused around Takutai Lawn, including the Laneway Festival on 1 February, another collaboration with 95bFM."

The 95bFM team says Britomart is the ideal location for bStreet, offering the only grassed space in the downtown area, an excellent group of venues in one concentrated area and with buses and trains right on its doorstep.
