Chugg Entertainment & Gaynor Crawford present

Salacious grandiosity? Sparkling melodies? Stunning lyrics?
RUFUS WAINWRIGHT
Returns for a very special evening of solo splendour

“Both a showman and deeply creative songwriter with a superb knack for live performance.” All Music Guide

“With Wainwright's resounding tenor proving a thing of power and beauty live, it was some enchanted evening.” NZ Herald Sold Out 2008 Performance Review.

“One thing you should know about Rufus Wainwright: he's absolutely devastating live.” PopMatters

Break out the diary, cancel your late February plans, and surprise your loved one(s) with tickets to something truly wonderful and intimate: the one and only Rufus Wainwright is returning to New Zealand for a very special evening featuring our prodigious wunderkind in solo piano and vocal mode.

The UK’s Observer Music Monthly might well have captured the essence of Mr. Wainwright’s entire career when it recently remarked that his latest and fifth studio album, Release The Stars, is “complex, melodramatic, ambitious, vain, beautiful and frequently magnificent!”

Since then, Rufus Wainwright has released his second live solo album and accompanying DVD, Milwaukee at Last!!! – again to rave reviews – and will be releasing a highly anticipated new studio album later in 2010. It is very clear that Rufus Wainwright is a major talent of the 21st Century; the question now is how far will this musical flair take him.

As music bible Mojo Magazine attests in its Release The Stars review, “Like (Brian Wilson’s) Smile, it extends the language of pop, setting a fearsome standard for anyone equal to the challenge of matching his limitless invention.”

But the important point to take from this announcement is this – do not delay in securing your tickets for this very special concert. If the 2008 Rufus Wainwright Auckland Sold Out show is anything to go by – his return in 2010 will no doubt be the absolute musical highlight of your calendar year!

RUFUS WAINWRIGHT FEBRUARY/MARCH TOUR CANCELLED

It is with deep regret that Chugg Entertainment and Gaynor Crawford Presents today announced that Rufus Wainwright’s upcoming tour will be cancelled due to an illness in the family, but the artist has confirmed that he will return to tour Australia and New Zealand before the end of the year.

Rufus Wainwright was scheduled to arrive in Australia next month to perform as part of the ‘A Day On The Green’ winery series, before a scheduled performance at the New Zealand International Arts Festival as well as two solo shows in Auckland and Christchurch. He was then scheduled to perform at Verbrugghen Hall at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music for two intimate solo performances.

Unfortunately the ‘A Day On The Green concerts in Victoria and Tasmania, also scheduled to feature Paul Kelly and The Church, will no longer go ahead as the promoters are unable to secure a suitable replacement of the same calibre as Rufus Wainwright in such a short time.

Patrons holding tickets to the headline performances are advised to contact their point of purchase to arrange a full refund of their tickets. Those holding tickets to the ‘A Day On The Green’ winery shows are advised that all tickets purchased via the Internet or Ticketmaster phone line will automatically be refunded onto the purchasing credit card. For all outlet bookings, customers are required to return to the point of purchase where a full refund will be issued.

Once Rufus’s return tour is confirmed, patrons who had secured tickets to these cancelled shows will be granted access to an exclusive pre-sale, allowing the first right to purchase tickets to the new 2010 tour dates.

The promoters and artist sincerely apologise for any inconvenience that the cancellation has caused, and hope that Rufus’ fans can appreciate the difficult and unfortunate circumstances surrounding the decision.
